We have put together a toolkit entitled, 'Community Consultancy: A Toolkit’, to help community organisations and local residents work within their own neighbourhoods to identify and research local issues. The publication provides a step-by-step guide on techniques to recruit, train and support local residents in community consultation and research techniques and is particularly relevant for areas experiencing regeneration activity. The Toolkit features our learning in relation to a 14 month project which saw the development of an innovative and tailored training and support programme – 9 local residents were then taken through the programme. The results of the programme are detailed with an emphasis on what worked and what could have been improved.
